Posta Srbije starts issuing time stamps

As of Monday, April 9th, the Serbian postal operator Posta Srbije will be issuing time stamps that guarantee the authenticity and validity of an electronic document, the company announced in its today's statement.

In combination with a digital signature and appopriate user applications, a time stamp is a required and sufficient condition for the transfer from paper to electronic operations in line with the existing legal framework.

Posta Srbije registered in early March to issue time stamps, which have multiple applications in the circulation of electronic documents.

Aside from confirming the exact time of signing of an electronic document and its existence before the timestamping, a time stamp also enables the verification of a digital signature even after the expiration or recall of the signatory's electronic certificate.

The most significant application of timestamping is in the domain of electronic documentation filing because it guarantees the authenticity of an electronic document regardless of the status of its signatory's electronic certificate.
