As stated, a meeting of representatives of Serbia and Montenegro was held in Belgrade on June 1 regarding the future arrangement in the field of providing air navigation services, in the context of the obligations arising from the process of accession to the European Union.
The meeting, as indicated, took place in a very constructive, open and friendly atmosphere.
– The Serbian side expressed full understanding for the position of Montenegro, taking into account its European path and the obligations that arise in that process in the field of harmonization with the acquis communautaire. It was also emphasized that the Serbian side was aware that this issue, at a certain stage of Montenegro’s accession process, would inevitably be raised as a topic that needed to be discussed jointly and institutionally – this portal states.
Both sides emphasized that the cooperation thus far had been significant and stable, and that it was of common interest that all issues continued to be resolved in the spirit of partnership and preserving air traffic safety as an absolute priority in the future.
– At the meeting, an agreement was reached to begin the formation of an intergovernmental working group, which would deal with further consideration of this issue, including legal, institutional, technical, operational and other relevant aspects of the future arrangement – the report emphasizes.
It was agreed that both sides would conduct the necessary internal consultations with the relevant departments and institutions in the coming period. It is expected that the Serbian side will provide feedback regarding further steps next week, after which the text of the appropriate act on the formation of the intergovernmental working group would be harmonized.
