The Government of Serbia has adopted two regulations that should enable systemic support for the economy in the decarbonization process and encourage investments in green technologies, the Ministry of Environmental Protection announced.

These are the Regulation on the conditions, criteria and manner of granting incentives for decarbonization and the deadlines and manner of reporting on the use of these funds, as well as the Regulation on the types of measures that lead to a reduction in carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2eq) emissions and the manner of reporting on implemented measures.

As stated by Minister of Environmental Protection Sara Pavkov, the adoption of the regulations represents an important step in establishing a system of support for the domestic economy to adapt to new business conditions on the European market.

– In the conditions of increasingly pronounced climate requirements on the European market, the Republic of Serbia is taking measures to provide the domestic economy with a predictable and gradual process of adaptation to new rules, while maintaining competitiveness and encouraging investments in modern technologies – Pavkov stated.

According to her, through the new regulations, the state wants to implement the green transition process together with the economy, through specific support mechanisms that will enable new investments, the introduction of modern technologies and the preservation of the competitiveness of domestic companies.

Pavkov emphasized that the adoption of the regulations confirmed Serbia’s readiness for new business conditions on the European Union market, while opening up space for new investments and technological development.

As stated, a transparent and competitive model for allocating funds has been established that should enable the efficient use of budgetary resources and direct support to the economy. The goal is to encourage companies to invest in green technologies that will facilitate their operations on the European market and contribute to long-term sustainable development.
