Construction of ElevenEs electric car battery factory begins in Subotica – Training of first 110 workers begins

Subotica-based company ElevenEs is building the first electric vehicle battery factory in Europe, with the support of Caterpillar, and this factory will employ 250 workers. Recruitment is starting gradually so that workers are trained for the moment when the factory starts production. So far, more than 110 workers from all over the world have been gathered, including highly qualified experts, according to RTV.

– We are already starting with larger recruitment and this process will be sequential so that we can train them so that, when the factory starts operating, when the equipment is received, they can really enter the production process – says Ivan Markovic, human resources manager at ElevenEs, according to RTV.

Let us remind that, at the beginning of the year, ElevenEs completed the first closing of its Series B investment round, with the support of Caterpillar Venture Capital, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc. In addition to them, a branch of BST (HK) Ltd, a key metals and raw materials trading house based in Hong Kong, also participated in this investment round.

As indicated at the time, this transaction represents a significant milestone for the future of European battery production, as the funds raised will be used for the initial phases of infrastructure and equipment for the planned 1GWh Mega Factory.

It was also emphasized at the time that construction of the factory itself would begin not long after and that the first deliveries of battery cells were expected in 2027. The new factory complex will include almost 25,000 square meters of state-of-the-art production facilities.

The ElevenEs project in Serbia, it was announced in winter, will employ more than 350 people, which will increase the existing team of over 110 international experts.
