Deputy Prime Minister for Economic and Regional Development Verica Kalanovic said Thursday that the Serbian government had adopted an agreement enabling Slovenia's Gorenje to build another factory in Valjevo, which would be signed within the next few days.
Kalanovic told Tanjug news agency that Gorenje would build another factory in Valjevo within the next 16 months, adding that the production facility worth EUR 20 million would span 30,000 square meters.
She stressed that the city would thus become a leader in the manufacture of cooling equipment not only in Serbia, but also abroad, adding that Gorenje planned to hire 400 new workers at the new factory over the next three years.
The Republic of Serbia has an obligation to contribute 20% of the total value of the investment and provide business infrastructure, whereas the city of Valjevo would prepare all the documentation necessary for the project implementation within the next 30 days, Kalanovic added.
