The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) has given final approval for financing that will support the continued development of Telekom Srbija’s 5G network.

As announced by Telekom, the financing with the support of EXIM Bank will help implement the procurement of 5G telecommunications network equipment and supporting services in Serbia, provided by US technology companies.

The financing follows the preliminary support approved by EXIM in December 2024 for the preparation and development of Telekom Srbija’s 5G network and represents the next step in Telekom Srbija’s cooperation with US institutions and technology partners.

– This represents an important milestone in Telekom Srbija’s long-term investment program and further strengthens the company’s relations with leading US financial and technology institutions – the announcement says.

Telekom Srbija commercially launched 5G services in Serbia in December 2025 and continues to expand coverage across the country. The company plans to provide 5G coverage in all cities in Serbia by the end of 2026, while full national coverage is planned by the end of 2027.

– This is a historic approval for Telekom Srbija and for the development of next-generation digital infrastructure in the Western Balkans. Our cooperation with EXIM Bank and leading American technology partners confirms the trust of major international institutions in Telekom Srbija’s strategy, financial strength and long-term growth. This allows us access to competitive financing and accelerates the development of the 5G network, for the benefit of our users, the economy and the entire Serbian economy – said Vladimir Lucic, CEO of Telekom Srbija Group.

Telekom, as a reminder, recently received updated credit ratings from Fitch Ratings, Moody’s and S&P Global, achieving its strongest credit profile to date. Telekom Srbija has meanwhile returned to the international capital market with a new bond offering, following the first issue of Eurobonds worth USD 900 million. The previous issue was the first corporate issue of Eurobonds from the Western Balkans.
