Thus, according to the CCIS statement, Serbia ranked among the most successful companies in the gaming industry, and games from domestic studios have been downloaded more than 300 million times around the world.
One of the most promising segments of the digital economy
However, despite these results, the sector is entering a period of more cautious development, with a reduction in the number of employees and a record low number of planned new positions.
– The gaming industry is one of the most promising segments of the domestic digital economy and an important potential for the further development of innovation and exports. Trends show that this sector maintains growth, and it is influenced by AI, the development of cloud computing, mobile and innovative solutions – says Mihailo Vesovic, Deputy President of the CCIS.
Vesovic added that the global market was still dominated by the USA, Japan and China.
For the eighth year in a row, the Serbian Games Association (SGA) has published an annual report on the state of the domestic gaming industry, which was premiered at the CCIS.

– Half as many games were released as in the previous year, but the number of projects in development remained stable, indicating an increasing focus on more complex and long-term projects – the association says.
AI an increasingly important segment
The data also shows that 63% of companies develop original products, while commercial titles have sold more than 600,000 copies.
At the same time, the average time employees spend in one company has increased to five and a half years, indicating greater team stability.
Artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly important part of the industry - more than 75% of companies are already using AI tools in their business.
The President of the SGA Board of Directors, Marija Ilic, pointed out that Serbia still ranks first in Europe in terms of the share of women employed in the gaming industry, with an additional increase in their participation in management positions, which now account for 41%.
For companies, the biggest challenges in business are high tax levies and insufficiently stimulating tax breaks.
