Serbia to become European hub for American instrumentation systems – AMETEK O’Brien to open facility in Subotica

Subotica is becoming the European production center of the American company AMETEK for their O’Brien program, within which a new production base for solutions in the field of process instrumentation and industrial systems is being established, the company said in a statement.

The new European production location of the American manufacturer of electronic instruments and measuring devices will be fully operational this April and will serve to produce a wide portfolio of O’Brien solutions intended for industrial instrumentation and process applications, reports the British industry portal Instrumentation.

The new facility will manufacture TracePak and StackPak heated tube bundle systems, unheated tube bundles, as well as GRP instrumentation housings (Vipak) and GRP protective canopies, i.e. heated and insulated tube bundles for the transport and protection of samples in analytical systems, systems for the transport of process samples, as well as housings and protective units for instruments and analytical equipment.

Solutions within the O’Brien portfolio are used in the oil and gas, petrochemical, energy and process industries, where reliable protection and transport of samples in analytical and process systems is required.

Until now, these products have mainly been shipped from factories in the USA, which meant long delivery times and high transportation costs. The company states that the goal of opening a new production facility is to localize production for the European market, shorten delivery times, reduce dependence on transatlantic logistics and increase flexibility in the implementation of industrial projects.

With the new investment, Subotica is further positioned as a European production hub for the O’Brien portfolio, thus expanding the existing AMETEK base in Serbia and introducing a new production segment intended for the European market, the statement says.

The O’Brien program has not been produced in Serbia so far, but AMETEK has been present in Subotica for more than a decade and produces various industrial components and systems for the global market at the campus there.

Dunkermotoren was practically the first major investment in 2012, when the German micromotor manufacturer started operating in Subotica, and later became part of AMETEK.

The AMETEK business campus was opened in 2017 in the Mali Bajmok Industrial Zone and covers an area of about 10,000 square meters, and is home to brands such as Grabner Instruments (oil and gas testing instruments, opening in 2021), MAE (Italian engine manufacturer), Spectro (analytical instruments) and CTS (conformity testing solutions).
