Serbia should ratify Kyoto protocol by the beginning of Autumn 2006 at the latest

State Secretary of the Ministry of International Economic Relations of Serbia, Vlatko Sekulović, and permanent representative of UN Development Program in Serbia, Lence Clark, signed the agreement on implementation of project "The mechanism of pure development".
- The value of the project is 200,000 USD and its aim will be to provide expert help from UN in establishing authorized national body, the institution that will work on the application of Kyoto protocol in Serbia - said Sekulović, reminding that the adoption of Kyoto protocol is one of the obligations of Serbia as a UN member.
He reminded that that important protocol should have been ratified in the Parliament of SCG, but, because the State Union had ceased to exist, that process had been stopped.
- The protocol will now have to be adopted in the republic parliament and we expect that that will be carried out as soon as possible, i.e. prior to the beginning of summer or autumn, at the latest - said Sekulović.
