IKA-ROCKET multicopter drone capable of launching unguided aircraft missiles developed in Serbia (VIDEO)

The Serbian company PR-DC, which develops unmanned aerial vehicles and other aviation systems, has introduced a new multicopter drone configuration called IKA-ROCKET, capable of launching standard 57 mm aircraft missiles. According to a report by the sUAS News portal, which cites the company's statement, the system is certified for military use and represents a significant technological breakthrough for the domestic drone industry. IKA-ROCKET was developed based on the IKA-20-M platform, a hexacopter configuration with six rotors, and can carry up to three BR-1-57 or S-5 missiles without the need for ammunition modification. The drone has a payload of up to 20 kg, a flight autonomy of over 30 minutes, and an operational range of up to 30 km at an altitude of up to 500 m, sUAS News reports.


– This drone is an example of a modular approach to the armament of unmanned platforms, combining standard aviation ammunition with autonomous operation capabilities – says the company’s statement quoted in the media.

The aircraft structure is made of epoxy materials reinforced with carbon fibers, while the launch tubes are made of fiberglass. The system can operate autonomously, during the day and night, and the modular configuration also allows for the carrying of aerial bombs or other loads, which increases operational flexibility.

PR‑DC is a private company majority owned by Pink Media Group, managed by media entrepreneur Zeljko Mitrović. The remaining ownership is held by minority partners, including engineers from the aerospace industry. The company retains control over the entire process of drone development and production and intends to market its technologies to international markets.

Although armed drones are widespread, the use of multicopter platforms capable of launching unguided aerial missiles remains rare. For example, Greece is developing heavy multirotor UAV designs for guided anti-tank missiles, such as the Kerveros UAV.
