Minister of Agriculture and Trade Dusan Petrovic said Monday that the prices of basic foodstuffs in Serbia were stable and that he did not expect further increase in the price of fuel, adding that the fuel price could only drop in the future.
Petrovic stressed that the stock exchange price of petroleum had been decreased by few dollars over the previous four or five days, adding that he did not expect further destabilization of the Dinar exchange rate. As he said, Dinar should at least remain on its current level.
- In my opinion, there are no reasons for the fuel price to go up, and I expect all future changes, if any, to make consumers happy - the minister said during his guest appearance on TV Happy.
When it comes to the prices of basic foodstuffs, Petrovic said that before the New Year, when the government had passed a regulation limiting the trade margin to 10 percent, they had been determined as "the basic line of defense of the primary standard of our citizens."
The minister reminded that the regulation applied to meat, milk, bread, flour, oil and sugar, pointing out that their prices were still within the limits established after the New Year.
