For the Serbian economy, this means faster inclusion in European value chains, the development of new business models based on recycling and reuse of resources, as well as greater competitiveness in a market that increasingly demands sustainable solutions.
As Sinisa Mitrovic, Director of the Circular Economy Center of the CCIS, emphasized, the admission of the CCIS to this network represents a significant development and strategic opportunity for the improvement of the national waste management system, but also for a stronger positioning of Serbia in the international circular economy, since this international alliance brings together key actors from the public, private and international sectors with the aim of reducing waste, eliminating pollution and using resources more efficiently at the global level.
He emphasized that membership brings access to new knowledge and best practices in areas such as extended producer responsibility, e-waste and plastic management, as well as the development of innovative circular solutions, which is an important step towards harmonization with European standards and improving domestic policies.
Mitrovic added that participation in the PREVENT network opens up space for the development of new business models, strengthening partnerships and access to international investments, thus creating conditions for greater circularity of the economy and strengthening the capacities of institutions and companies in Serbia.
Professional and operational support for activities within the network is provided by the Center for Circular Economy of the CCIS, through the inclusion of domestic companies, institutions and experts in international flows of knowledge and cooperation.
Membership of the CCIS in the PREVENT Waste Alliance represents an important step towards more sustainable resource management and will contribute to more efficient achievement of the goals of green and circular transition in the Republic of Serbia.
