Johnson Electric: Around 50 contracts not extended due to end of production cycle

After the Co-President of the “Nis, My City” coalition, Miodrag Stankovic, stated that more than 100 contracts had not been extended at the Johnson Electric factory in Nis, the company stated that approximately 50 contracts had reached their pre-planned expiration date, and that therefore the contracts with the workers had not been extended.

Johnson Electric stated that during the previous year the number of employees had only increased temporarily, that is, that new workers had been hired with a fixed-term employment contract.

– As this temporary production cycle ended in the previous months, approximately 50 of these contracts had reached their pre-planned expiration date and therefore were not extended – the company stated.

Johnson Electric also explained that the termination of employment was in accordance with applicable regulations.

– These engagements were clearly defined from the very beginning as fixed-term contracts and directly related to temporary business needs. Their termination therefore represents a regular and lawful expiration of the contract, fully in accordance with applicable labor law regulations – the company emphasized.

The company’s reaction followed after the co-president of the “Nis, My City” coalition, Miodrag Stankovic, announced that more than 100 contracts of fixed-term workers at the Johnson Electric factory in Nis had not been extended and warned of the possibility of new layoffs during May.
