As Forbes Serbia already wrote, the PE Roads of Serbia issued a call back in October 2023. They were looking for a financier for future “green stations.” Someone who is ready to invest 786 million dinars in setting up a total of 16 points. These are rest areas along the highways that will have at least five and at most 10 chargers for electric vehicles.
The “green stations” project suspended
The opening of bids was postponed and finally, in March 2024, investors were found. The Roads of Serbia chose the financier - the consortium of Itech Corp and Elcom Bgd, both from Belgrade.
However, there are still no rest areas with chargers along the highways. As they explained to us at the Roads of Serbia, nothing has come of this idea so far.
– The green stations project was suspended in November 2024. This was due to the failure to fulfill contractual obligations by the financier, the company with which the Roads of Serbia signed a contract to finance the project – they say at the Roads of Serbia. “The reason for the suspension of the construction of the ‘green stations’ is the delay in preparing the project documentation.”
That contract has been terminated, but there has been no new call. As they add in the Roads of Serbia, this company “currently has no plans to initiate new proceedings.”
