State's ownership over building land in Serbia still represents obstacle for foreign investments

Bigger inflow of “greenfield” investments would be the real signal of Serbia's openness for investments, said the president of the Foreign Investors' Council (FIC), Mike Ahern, adding that the absence of that type of investments is one of the "most disturbing statistics" in the Republic.
- One of the most important priorities of FIC in 2006 are negotiations between Serbia and EU, because they imply bringing legal regulations into accord with the EU standards, market and economic growth - Ahern explained.
Potential investors, according to his words, expect much from the multilateral agreement on free trade in the region of Southeast Europe.
- The big problem is that the country still owns building land and the potential investors wish they could buy land, on which they intend to build factories - Ahern explained.
