– We are also moving forward with a gas interconnection with Serbia, which would strengthen the security and stability of the entire region – said Susnjar at the conference Energy 2026 - Croatia Facing Decisions of the Decade, as reported by the Dnevno.hr portal.
He added that for the initial capacity, it was necessary to build about 15 kilometers of gas pipeline and that Serbia had shown interest in the project.
Susnjar emphasized that Croatia was already fulfilling an important regional role thanks to the LNG terminal on Krk, which had reduced the dependence of Croatia and neighboring countries on Russian energy sources. According to him, the connection with Serbia represents a logical continuation of the policy of strengthening the energy resilience of Southeast Europe.
By opening the Krk LNG terminal to Serbia, as reported by this portal, Croatia is further strengthening its position as a key energy player in the region, and the interconnection project is seen as an important strategic step in the context of Europe’s long-term energy and security challenges.
