Ministry of Domestic and Foreign Trade working on reissuing export licenses for weapons

Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarevic visited the Milan Blagojevic defense industry factory in Lucani several days ago and spoke with the management about the current challenging period in the sector. This factory, which produces key components for the operation of other defense industry factories in Serbia, is facing difficult export activities due to the suspension of issuing licenses for the export of weapons and military equipment.

Lazarevic emphasized that the Ministry, in cooperation with other institutions, was trying to influence the reissuance of licenses in order to preserve existing markets and relieve companies’ stocks.

– The idea is to try to start issuing licenses in order to preserve clients around the world, but also to enable the further development of this industry, which is a significant driver of our entire industry – said the minister.

The minister also emphasized that Milan Blagojevic was an example of “a successful defense industry factory with continuous improvement of the production program and high standards of social responsibility.”

As Lazarevic explained, getting out of the current situation, which is caused by specific circumstances in Serbia, Europe and the world, requires coordinated action by multiple actors, and the Ministry is ready to actively participate in finding a solution.
