The public debate on the Draft Law on Trade Practices begins today and will last until January 28, the Ministry of Domestic and Foreign Trade announced. As part of this debate, the public will have the opportunity to submit their comments, proposals and suggestions.

The presentation of the Draft Law on Trade Practices will be held on January 23 at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, starting at 10 a.m., where its solutions, objectives and expected effects of implementation will be explained in detail, according to the ministry.

- The importance of the Law on Trade Practices is reflected in the prevention of unfair trade practices and the establishment of fair and transparent relations between all market actors - traders, manufacturers/processors and primary agricultural producers. Certain charges that have so far represented part of the costs of suppliers and producers will be permanently prohibited by this law, while some will be allowed exclusively under clearly defined conditions - the ministry indicates.

The draft law, it is added, is largely modeled on solutions already implemented in the European Union and introduces clear rules and precise definitions of permitted and prohibited trading practices. Its implementation will, the ministry notes, contribute to improving the functioning of the internal market, as well as creating the preconditions for more stable and transparent price formation.

The Law on Trade Practices is part of a wider set of systemic solutions aimed at creating a healthy and sustainable business environment in the internal market, based on modern European regulations and good practice.
