Novi Sad announces tender for city center development – Works worth 531.6 million dinars

The City Administration for Construction Land and Investments of Novi Sad has announced an open public procurement procedure for the development of part of the city center, Phase II, Stage 2B, with an estimated value of 531.6 million dinars, excluding VAT.

The second phase of the project concerns Modene Street and the western part of Ilije Ognjanovica Street, in the very center of Novi Sad. It is, as stated, one of the most representative routes connecting the Freedom Square and Mihajla Pupina Boulevard, and its development is being carried out in accordance with the current general and detailed regulation plans for the protected old city center.

The project includes the reconstruction of pedestrian and vehicle areas, new ground-level development, horticultural and landscape design, as well as the installation of urban furniture and public lighting.

Pedestrian zone, fountains and new greenery

In the pedestrian part of Modena Street, it is planned to form several functional units – from an intervention corridor, through ambient green areas with tree rows, benches and a linear fountain, to summer gardens with a unique canopy.

Special emphasis is placed on greening the space. The reconstruction and construction of new fountains is also planned, as well as adapting the space to the construction of an underground garage.

In the part of the street intended for vehicle traffic, entrances and exits from the underground garage, a two-lane bicycle path, parking for bicycles and motorcycles, as well as retaining the existing monument to Mihajlo Pupin at its current location are planned.

One year of maintenance of green areas

The tender also includes investment maintenance of green areas for a period of one year, which includes watering, fertilizing, pruning and replacing dried seedlings. Maintenance costs are estimated at 20% of the total value of the investment in greening.

The project to redevelop part of the city core is being implemented in phases, due to the scale and complexity of the space, and is based on the awarded competition solutions for the development of the old center of Novi Sad.
