Mineral Resources Management Strategy to be adopted soon

The adoption of the Strategy for the Management of Mineral and Other Geological Resources of Serbia for the period 2025-2040, with a projection until 2050, is expected soon, announced Assistant Minister of Mining and Energy Ivan Jankovic.

At a meeting with representatives of the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Saxon Mining Office, he stated that this would be the first strategy that would systematically include the management of mineral resources.

- A public debate was held at which comments from the professional public were taken into account with the aim of defining the long-term direction of development of the mining sector in Serbia. The strategy provides guidelines for the implementation of the highest environmental protection standards, in accordance with regulations and practices in the European Union, with the need to preserve Serbia's interests in exploiting and processing critical mineral raw materials in the country, while developing broader value chains and economic activities - said Jankovic.

He added that in the process of transition to clean energy sources, there was significant room for cooperation and exchange of experiences with Germany.
