Beograd City Transportation Company plans to buy another 400 buses until 2014

Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas announced Tuesday that the city transportation system would also be refreshed with new buses after the procurement of new trolleybuses and trams. Namely, the City Transportation Company (GSP) Beograd is going to buy 280 articulated and 120 single buses over the next year or two, all of which will be powered by natural gas, Beoinfo writes.

- We have already started negotiating with the EBRD on a loan for GSP Beograd. Aside from buying gas vehicles, we will also continue to procure buses from Ikarbus. Our wish is to purchae another 35 vehicles from that company in 2012, as well as to buy some in 2013 - Dragan Djilas said on his tour of the Karaburma facility of GSP Beograd, where 10 new CNG buses were presented.

GSP Beograd CEO Mileta Radojevic stressed that the company's current fuel expenses of 3.5 to 3.7 million euros per month could be cut in half if only gas vehicles were in operation.

The City Transportation Company Beograd has 1,153 vehicles in its rolling stock, 212 of which are trams, 131 are trolleybuses, while 810 are buses.
