Serbia seeks adviser for oil shale exploitation project in Aleksinac

The Ministry of Environment of Serbia has launched an open competition to appoint an adviser to help it find a partner for tapping its so far unused oil shale reserves in Aleksinac. The competition will be open until 13 March 2012.

As the Ministry of Environment announced earlier, the public procurement of services from an adviser, whose value is estimated at RSD 20 million, is necessary because the implementation of the oil shale exploitation project is of strategic importance for the development of Serbia. The adviser is expected to come up with an optimal model for the implementation of such a complex project, based on the initial analysis of the volume of required works and investments.

It is estimated that the Aleksinac basin is home to 2 billion tonnes of shale reserves.
