The National Bank of Serbia has received a warning about the possibility of so-called secondary sanctions due to Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS), Jorgovanka Tabakovic, Governor of the NBS, confirmed for Blic Biznis.

– We received a warning as an entity that cooperates with a business entity that is under sanctions. This is a serious warning for us – said Tabakovic at the presentation of the inflation report.

According to her, the warning came at a time when part of the US OFAC administration was in a work blockade, therefore, the NBS did not receive a precise explanation when asked what all these secondary sanctions would include.

– We could not get a more precise explanation, but we take this warning seriously. I hope there will be none because that would mean blocking all payments – she stated.
