Elementary School “Milos Crnjanski” in Novi Sad to get new building – Investment worth almost three billion dinars

The construction of the new facility of the Elementary School “Milos Crnjanski” in Satelit has become more expensive, and now amounts to almost three billion dinars with calculated taxes.

As can be seen in the decision on the amendment of the contract, published on the Public Procurement Portal, the works have become more expensive by more than 68.5 million dinars.

Contract amended

The contract was amended due to additional works that were not foreseen in the original project, and which, as it says, “a conscientious client could not have foreseen.”

Details about what these unforeseen works are have not been published.

This has also made the construction more expensive and it now costs more than 2,988,000,000 dinars, and the entire amount was allocated by the province. This is, by the way, the first amendment to the contract with the Capital Investments Administration since the beginning of the works.

The school was planned to be built in 18 months, with classes in the new building to begin on September 1, 2025.

The basement level is planned to house multifunctional and sports halls located in the central part of the building.

The original project also included a swimming pool, which was abandoned during the revision, and this space is intended for the needs of the sports halls.

11,500 square meter building

A total of 36 classrooms are planned for the school, and on the first and second floors, the two wings are connected by galleries in the form of corridors that intersect the multifunctional and sports hall and form a single visual whole.

The area of the new school will be 11,500 square meters.

After the construction, the school should accommodate around 1,440 students, while more than 1,100 children are currently enrolled.

The current building of the “Miloš Crnjanski” school was built in 1962.

When the new building is raised, the old building will be demolished and sports fields will be built there that will serve students and all children from Satelit and Novo naselje.

Let us remind that the construction of the new building, which will be larger than 12,600 square meters, began in early 2023, and the work is being carried out by a group of bidders led by “GAT.”
