The new space will increase the park’s capacities threefold and further strengthen the position of one of the most successful and promising science and innovation centers in Serbia.
At a time when algorithms have become invisible allies of everyday life, a Nis startup has decided to apply them in healthcare.
Startup combines medicine and AI
Their mobile application uses medical methods and artificial intelligence to analyze footprints, automatically detecting flat feet and other deformities.
Based on the data obtained, the algorithm creates a personalized exercise plan and monitors the user’s progress.
– The application works by the user leaving a footprint on paper. Our algorithm, based on medical methods, calculates the degree of deformity, and the user receives a personalized exercise plan to follow. The application also allows for monitoring progress over time, as well as re-scanning and insight into the results. This is a relief for both doctors and parents themselves – says Dimitrije Zdravkovic from the startup “Archfix.”
He emphasizes that the STP has recognized their potential and enabled further development and entry into new markets.
In the Science-Technology Park in Nis, algorithms are not limited to healthcare. Around fifty companies with more than 500 employees are developing innovative products in the automotive, textile, pharmaceutical and electronics industries.
The new STP facility, which is being built between the Faculty of Electronics and the Student Center, covers an area of around 9,500 m2 and includes office space and laboratories. Completion of construction is planned for early next year.
– The construction of the new building will triple the capacities of STP Nis, will be an integral part of the STP system and will enable the park to gather more than 70 companies in which at least 1,000 researchers and young engineers will work on new innovative products. This will be a significant impetus for the development of the innovation ecosystem in Nis – emphasizes Milan Randjelovic, Director of STP Nis.
