Tender for revitalization of medieval town of Maglic announced

The Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments Kraljevo has announced a tender for the implementation of works on the revitalization of the medieval town of Maglic, as part of the sixth phase of emergency interventions and technical maintenance. The estimated value of the works is 3,185,500 dinars.

The works include the repair of serious damage to the walls between towers I and VII, VII and VIII, the connection of the donjon tower with the eastern wall, as well as on the southern corner of tower VI, where stone has fallen out of the wall. Special attention will also be paid to cleaning the interior of the donjon tower and the northern wall from weeds, brushwood, trees and garbage, with treatment with chemical agents against weeds.

The installation of missing thresholds, pillar supports and fences made of industrially impregnated oak and acacia wood is planned, with the application of protective antifungal and anti-insecticidal coatings. In places where the wall mass has fallen out, sealing will be carried out, and the missing parts of the walls will be built using a technique identical to the original wall. Also, a new footpath made of oak wood will be built between towers I and II on the eastern rampart.

The contractor is obliged to provide all necessary equipment and materials, as well as auxiliary workers and transport. The works are supervised by an expert from the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments in Kraljevo.

Access to the location is difficult because the high bridge over the Ibar River that led to the fortification was washed away by a torrent of water, which further complicates the execution of the works. The warranty periods begin to run from the date of mutual signing of the records on the handover of the works.
