Copper mines in Bor and Majdanpek, as well as Smeltery in Mining Smeltery Basin "Bor" on tender by the end of May 2006

- Tender for privatization of the copper mines in Bor and Majdanpek and Smeltery and Copper Refinery in Bor, which operate in the makeup of Mining Smeltery Basin "Bor", will be announced by the end of May 2006 - said acting director of that combine Borivoje Stojadinović.

The Strategy for privatization of Mining Smeltery Basin "Bor", which had been adopted by the Government of Serbia, implied that all other companies that were parts of the copper combine be privatized on the auction, said Stojadinović and added that the estimate of value of the property of the combine was in progress. The evaluation is carried out in cooperation with consulting company "Deloitte & Touche".

So far, several companies applied for the privatization of the mine and smeltery and refinery of Mining Smeltery Basin "Bor", some of which are Austrian concern "Vest Alpina" from Linz, Swedish company "Quatro corporation", INdian mining company "Vidante resources", Australian mining corporation "View resources" from Perth and company "Ist point", of which owner is Zoran Drakulić.

Canadian company "Dundee Precious Metals", which already obtained concessions for exploitation of copper and precious metals on Crni Vrh near Bor, multinational "Rio Tinto" and Russian company "Bazni element" are interested in procurement of smaller companies from the makeup of Bor-based copper combine.
