The Serbian Government has adopted the Draft Law on the Confirmation of the Agreement by which Serbia becomes an Associated Country in the European Union Single Market Program. This opens up access to EU funds and equal participation in tenders for domestic SMEs together with companies from member states.

The program, worth several billion euros, is intended to strengthen competitiveness, develop standards, protect consumers, improve food safety and improve statistics, and Serbia has decided to focus on the pillar dedicated to the competitiveness of SMEs. The continued funding of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), which has been helping companies in Serbia in internationalization, digitalization and sustainable business since 2008, will be of particular benefit.

For domestic business people, this means a greater chance of obtaining grants from European funds for the development of clusters, tourism, innovation and projects for young entrepreneurs.

By joining the Program, Serbia is fulfilling part of its obligations from the accession negotiations with the EU under Chapter 20 - Entrepreneurship and Industrial Policy.
