AP: Some of the Highest U.S. Tariffs Imposed on Goods from Serbia as Deal Deadline Nears

(Ilustration) U.S. President Donald Trump has announced some of the highest tariff rates in the world for goods imported from Serbia, with the deadline for reaching a trade agreement set to expire next Friday, August 1, reports the Associated Press.

Trump sent official letters—also published on his social media platform Truth Social—stating that higher tariffs will apply to goods from countries that do not reach agreements with the United States. He also warned that countries which retaliate by raising import duties on American products could face even steeper U.S. tariffs.

For goods imported into the U.S., tariffs have been set at 25% for South Korea, 40% for Myanmar and Laos, 36% for Cambodia and Thailand, 35% for Serbia and Bangladesh, 30% for South Africa and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and 25% for Kazakhstan, Malaysia, and Tunisia—according to AP’s report listing the countries that will be subject to the highest U.S. import duties starting August 1.
