Trump to impose 35% tariffs on Serbia, same as Bangladesh

The US will start imposing higher tariffs on imports from several countries on August 1, marking a new phase in the trade war that Trump launched in April. Letters announcing higher tariffs have been received by 14 countries so far.

In the letter, also addressed to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, and published on the Truth Social network, Trump also said that the US would impose a new increase if Belgrade decided to retaliate by imposing additional tariffs on imports from the US.

Trump announced that starting August 1, he would impose tariffs of 25% on goods from Tunisia, Malaysia and Kazakhstan, 30% on goods from South Africa and Bosnia and Herzegovina, 32% on imports from Indonesia, 35% on goods from Serbia and Bangladesh, 36% on goods from Cambodia and Thailand, and 40% on imports from Laos and Myanmar.
