New TPP Kostolac block gets occupancy permit

The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia has issued an occupancy permit for Unit 3, System 50, of the Kostolac thermal power plant, the Government of Serbia announced. As added in the press release, the block represents the core of the new power plant and a symbol of Serbia’s energy stability.

Let us remind that, at the end of last year, Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) got a new production capacity, the thermal power plant B3 in Kostolac. On December 13, the ceremony of the handing over of the Certificate of the taking over of the block was held by EPS and the contractor, China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC).

It was pointed out at the time that the thermal power plant Kostolac B3 would have a power of 350 megawatts and that it would provide close to five percent of the total electrical energy in Serbia.

It was also noted that the modern power plant would secure not just reliable power generation, but also the highest environmental standards for that form of energy production.
