Investment Protection Agreement between Serbia and Japan could be signed in September

The Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement between Serbia and Japan could be signed as early as September, as we are in the final stages of concluding this agreement and the plan is to complete negotiations by the end of the summer. The signing of the agreement will represent an important legal framework for Japanese investments, emphasized Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarevic in an interview with the media in Japan, during a visit to the National Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025.

The Investment Conference between Serbia and Japan, held on June 23, is an important event and the goal is to attract an even larger number of Japanese investors and significantly intensify trade, emphasized Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarevic.

– Respectable Japanese companies have applied for the conference and it is an opportunity to present ourselves in full glory to the Japanese business community in these challenging geopolitical and geoeconomic times, when capital flows are quite threatened. Japan is an important partner for us in the energy sector, infrastructure, environmental protection, agriculture, but also for investments in manufacturing and export-oriented sectors – said Minister Lazarevic.

The investment conference is a unique opportunity to present, with the support of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, the Serbian business community, but also Serbia, which has the fastest growing economy in this part of Europe and is in the top three growing economies in all of Europe.
