Interchange to Pancevo Bridge to open for traffic as early as in late 2012 - Construction of new entrance ramp, worth about EUR 2 million, kicks off in April

(Pancevo Bridge)
Construction of a new entrance ramp to Pancevo Bridge should solve a substantial part of the problem of traffic jams that the citizens of Belgrade, especially those living on the left bank of the Danube, are facing on a daily basis. An interchange that will be built during this year will allow the vehicles coming from Despota Stefana Boulevard to access Pancevo Bridge.
A public procurement tender for construction works on the first interchange to that bridge was issued in the last days of 2011. The works are planned to kick off in April and end in late 2012. Their estimated value (inclusive of VAT) is RSD 200 million.
As City Manager Aleksandar Bijelic explained to Blic daily, part of Despota Stefana Boulevard, about 300 meters long, will be widened to include three instead of current two lanes. This new lane will go to an entrance ramp to Pancevo Bridge, in the direction of Borca.
- Construction of another interchange, which will allow vehicles to exit the bridge and go in the direction of Karaburma, is in the pipeline for the near future, that is, 2013 or 2014 - Bijelic told Blic.
