NALED nominates ten reform priorities for new Serbian Government

Electronic payment of non-tax levies, establishment of e-cards, e-sick leave and e-Wallets, regulation of flexible forms of work, digitalization of legalization and faster registration in the cadaster, introduction of a deposit system and CBAM mechanism modeled on the EU, as well as liberalization of foreign exchange operations – these are the ten key priorities of the new Grey Book that NALED presented at the 19th Annual Assembly as a recommendation to the Serbian Government for accelerating reforms and modernizing the state, the organization announced.

– The previous period was marked by turbulent events on the domestic and international levels, which redirected the focus from economic reforms to solving other problems. We all feel that the reform process has slowed down and the numbers show this. Compared to the usual 12 recommendations per year, institutions have partially fulfilled only two in energy and agriculture since the previous edition. Work has begun on 11 more, of which we would particularly highlight the reform of parafiscal charges – emphasized the President of the NALED Executive Board and Director of ASEE Dejan Djokic.

The new edition of the Grey Book brings as many as 35 recommendations based on digitalization, and 23 carry the EU badge for contribution to European integration.

– In a situation of pronounced polarization in society and all the challenges in the country and the world, the role of NALED, as an independent association that has existed for almost two decades, remains unchanged – and that is public-private dialogue, constructive criticism, economic reforms based on analyses and data, and digitalization as a way to achieve full transparency, efficiency and accountability of institutions – emphasized the Executive Director of NALED Violeta Jovanovic.

On behalf of the Government of Serbia, the Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic announced further reforms and continued cooperation with NALED on improving regulations.

– Reforms in the energy sector are not just a matter of our ambitions to become a member of the EU, although they are a significant part of the reform agenda. These reforms are important for our citizens and the economy, to have a stable and sustainable energy sector, sufficient electricity and gas, both today and in the years to come, in which we will increasingly switch to clean energy sources. We see the economy as an important partner in the energy transition process and I believe that dialogue with the economy is important to pave the way for easier business and investment – said the Minister of Energy and Mining Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic.

NALED announced that this year it will pay special attention to the topic of equality and economic empowerment of women, because there is no sustainable progress if half of the potential is ignored - and that is women.
