Agriculturists’ Association: We asked for a talk with the minister, we were invited for a meeting by the SIA

The president of the Agriculturists’ Association Stig, Nedeljko Savic, said today that agricultural producers had asked for a meeting with the minister of agriculture of Serbia, Dragan Glamocic, so that they would inform him of the problems in that sector, and that they had instead been invited for a talk by representatives of the Security Intelligence Agency (SIA), and added that they had listened to what the agriculturists had to say and said that they would forward the requests to the minister.

The agriculturists, as Savic said, are dissatisfied with the situation in the agrarian sector and, if the problems are not solved, they will commence new protests.

– We sent the request for a meeting on May 20 to Glamocic exclusively, and on May 21, we were invited by the SIA. That agency could not have invited us for a talk without an order by the ministry – said Savcic.

He said that two members of the SIA had listened to what the agriculturists had to say and that they had told them that the problems of which they had been informed would be forwarded to minister Glamocic.

Savic said that the agriculturists were dissatisfied because the owners of the land who rent it out did not want to sign agreements, thereby refusing to let them have subsidies for renters, as specified by the Law on Agriculture and Rural Development.
