Serbia files candidacy for hosting IMF annual meetings in 2029

Serbia has formally filed its candidacy for hosting the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in 2029, announced the minister of finance, Sinisa Mali.

As he said during the meeting of the Constituency in Washington D.C., the organization of such a big event would be an opportunity for Serbia to once again host the leading financial institutions, for the first time since 1979.

During the talk with the representative of the World Bank and the IMF, Mali pointed out that Serbia’s candidacy was part of wider efforts to boost the country’s international visibility and position in financial circles.
