The global situation at the moment is, admittedly, somewhat chaotic. As the European Union introduces strict regulations that penalize companies with high carbon dioxide emissions, investors are less and less investing in "dirty" industries, and consumers are voting with their wallets - by choosing brands that work in harmony with nature. And while these changes are happening in Europe, the situation is somewhat different in the United States of America.
President Donald Trump has significantly changed the direction of US energy and climate policies. He pulled the country out of the Paris Agreement, suspended the approval of leasing of coastal areas for wind farms and launched a review of existing permits for renewable energy sources. Also, he ordered the acceleration of investments in the oil and gas industry.
While we wait to see what the consequences of these decisions will be on the global economy, their impact on European green energy companies can already be seen. European renewable operators are facing challenges as many projects, which depended on stable market conditions in the US, became uncertain.
However, despite these global challenges, there are also obvious signals of change in people`s consciousness. Fast fashion brands are losing the market because young customers are choosing recycled and environmentally friendly clothes, and the car companies that haven`t switched to electric models are barely surviving.
In the region, the situation is somewhat different, but still favorable. States offer subsidies for solar panel installation, green building construction and recycling, and companies that are the first to join these initiatives can expect multiple benefits.
Finally, in times that are quite challenging for the RES industry, we could conclude that the narratives are changing - success is no longer measured only by profits, but also by the impact on people and the planet, and sustainability becomes the new currency of trust!
