The development and improvement of economic cooperation between Serbia and Russian Federation, especially in the fields of agriculture, robotics, energy, infrastructure, machinery, information and communication technologies (ICT), digitization, innovation, as well as the application of new technologies, were the topics of the meeting between Minister Nenad Popovic and the head of the administration of the President of the Russian Federation, Maksim Oreshkin.

They agreed that, in the coming period, they will continue to work on strengthening cooperation in these key sectors for both countries, according to the announcement of the Cabinet of the Minister in charge of international economic cooperation and the position of the church in the country and abroad, who is simultaneously the co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Serbian-Russian Committee for Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technological Cooperation.

Popovic particularly emphasized the diversity of trade between Serbia and Russia, which includes energy, chemical, food, industrial and pharmaceutical products. He emphasized that cooperation with Russia represents a strategic partnership, especially in the area of the gas industry, pointing to an extremely favorable gas supply contract signed three years ago.

- Thanks to this contract, the price of gas for citizens and the economy of Serbia is the lowest in Europe, and we are working intensively to sign a new contract under favorable conditions from May of this year. This cooperation guarantees us energy security and enables smooth growth of industry and economy - added Popovic.

The minister also recalled the strong political and diplomatic cooperation between Serbia and Russia, stressing that in the future they will be committed to strengthening economic ties. He also reminded of the importance of the support that Russia provides to Serbia at the international level, especially in key issues such as Kosovo and Metohija, and the resolution on Srebrenica in the UN.
