The Secretariat for Public Transport of the City of Belgrade has announced a public procurement for the performance of communal activities of public bus transport in part of the territory of the city municipality of Surčin (route 600), as well as for suburban and local transport within the framework of a public-private partnership.

The value of the project is RSD 114.45 billion excluding VAT, i.e., around EUR 976.5 million, and the contract with the future partner will be concluded for 10 years.

The proposed network of city lines includes 12 lines, while the network of suburban and local lines is divided into 304 lines.

What kind of buses does the city require from the carrier?

In accordance with the procurement requirements, a total of 76 buses will be requied for city transport on route 600, out of which 47 solo and 22 articulated vehicles, while an additional seven will be held in reserve.

For suburban and local lines, 297 buses are planned, including 32 minibuses, 198 solo buses and 40 articulated vehicles, while 27 vehicles will be held in reserve.

In total, the new carrier will have to provide 373 buses, out of which at least 170 classified as "tender new" vehicles, manufactured in 2023 or later.

68 buses will be hybrid or electric, as well.

Buses must meet Euro 6 standards, have video surveillance, a passenger counting system, information displays and free Wi-Fi. The contract foresees the obligation of the private partner to acquire additional spare vehicles within six months of signing.

The deadline for submitting bids is May 13.

Replacement for the consortium consisting of ASP Strela Obrenovac, ASP Strela Ub, Lastra Lazarevac and SP Lasta

At the March 6 session, councilors of the Belgrade Assembly adopted a proposal for a decision consenting with the Secretariat for Public Transport to terminate the contract on public-private partnership with the private consortium, which consists of ASP Strela Obrenovac, ASP Strela Ub, Lastra Lazarevac and SP Lasta.

Nebojsa Mirovic, the president of the independent trade union of the transport company Lasta Beograd, said at the time that there would be no change in the timetable in city and suburban traffic due to the termination of the contract.

- The contract has been terminated, but a new tender will be announced and in that tender it envisions that some lines will be reinforced with new buses. The existing timetable will be maintained until the end of the new tender - Mirovic said earlier for "Beta" press agency.
