Lufthansa increases passenger traffic from Serbia by 15 percent

Germany's Lufthansa Group will transport 500,000 passengers from Serbia this year, 15 percent more than in 2010, Lufthansa Director for Serbia Elmar Erger announced Tuesday.

Companies operating as part of this group in Serbia are: Germany's Lufthansa, Austria's Austrian Airlines, and Swiss Air from Switzerland.

- Serbia is a growing market for the Lufthansa Group in Europe, and we expect to transport half a million people from Belgrade to the main airports in Germany, Austria and Switzerland by the year's end. That is the biggest number of passengers since 1949 when Lufthansa started operating flights from Belgrade - said Erger.

Lufthansa Director for Central and East Europe Ofer Kisch said that the company was currently implementing the biggest fleet renewal program in its history by procuring 200 new airplanes worth EUR 19 billion.
