Employees at Belgrade Airport hold one-hour warning strike

More than a hundred employees at the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport held a one-hour warning strike on Friday, from 12 till 1 PM.

The statement of the Trade Union “Zajedno” says that the reason is the difficult material position of the employees and the salaries which are not harmonized with the market trends.

The halt of operations between 12 and 1 PM had been previously announced.

– A part of the employees, although they support the strike, will not be able to participate, because, according to the law, the minimum work process has to be maintained. We are requesting for the salaries to be harmonized with the average salary in Belgrade – the trade union said earlier for Nova.rs.

During the same day, the Belgrade Airport company also made a statement regarding this.

– Today’s warning strike, which last for an hour, in the period between 12 and 1 PM, is organized by one of the five representative trade unions. All the airport services are working together to secure a regular functioning of the airport, and the employees who are currently on strike are complying with the decision on the minimum work process. We apologize to the passengers and the partners due to the potential impact of the warning strike on the quality of the service provided by the airport – the Belgrade Airport company announced.

The company reminds that, in the past several years, they have been carrying out an annual review of the salaries and compensations in an active dialogue with all the trade unions and that they regularly notify the employees about that process and its phases.

– The aim of this constant process is not just to attract, but also to retain the employees who contribute to the growth and development of the company. The review process for 2025 is currently in progress. During this process, the company has transparently presented to the trade unions its proposal for an increase of the salary budget which is above the inflation rate, in addition to the increases in the past three years, which aimed to improve and maintain our competitiveness in the sense of salaries and compensations. The Belgrade Airport company is dedicated to inciting dialogue with the trade unions and employees and talks are ongoing so that the process of the review of the salaries for 2025 would be completed on time – the statement says.
