Serbia near bottom of list in Europe per share of protected areas

This pertains to the database which shows what percentage of the surface of a country is under protection, whether it’s a national park or some “lower” form of nature protection.
In Serbia, that share is slightly over 8% – of all the European countries, only the Faroe Islands and Bosnia and Herzegovina have a lower share. On the other hand, countries of the region, such as Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, or Greece, have between 35 and 40% of their territories under protection.
