Following layoff of 950 Benetton workers, employees of Johnson Electric and Yura also to lose their jobs?

After Benetton announced the closing of the factory in Nis, which is why, in April this year, 950 workers will lose their jobs, two days ago, at the Nis factory Johnson Electric, around 300 workers got a proposal for a voluntary termination of the labor contract, announced Miodrag Stankovic, the head of the parliamentary group Ujedinjeni – Nada za Nis at the City Assembly of Nis and a co-president of the Nis, moj grad movement.

– At the same time, a large number of employees at the company Yura are worried because, for now, they have been notified in person that, due to reduced product sales, they will be offered a paid leave or a voluntary termination of the labor contract with a severance payment – said Stankovic.

– For many families, this is the only source of income, in the majority of them, because only one family member works, and there are also many examples where both spouses work at the same factory – Stankovic said in an announcement.

Stankovic said that that crisis situation also required “an all-encompassing analysis” of the subsidies for investors which had been causing controversy for 15 years, repeatedly raising the question of how justified and just they are.

– Foreign investors have received subsidies of up to 84,000 and even EUR 100,000 per job, whereas, on the other hand, we have big domestic companies which don’t get subsidies – he said.
