European Union and 10 countries and territories, 7 of which are in the Balkans, signed the agreement on forming of "Joint European Air Space" (EAEC).
Joint air space will be located over the territory that is home to 500 million people. In Salzburg, Austria, the Agreement was signed by the ministries of transportation of 25 EU members and their colleagues from SCG, Albania, BIH, Bulgaria, Croatia, Iceland, Macedonia, Norway and Romania, as well as the representatives of UN Mission on Kosovo.
- Forming of EAEC will give new stimulus to economic and political integration of Europe, for which air transportation has the main role - said European TRansportation Commissioner Žak Baro.
According to his words, the Agreement will open new market perspectives for aircraft industry and create wider offer of destinations for potential passengers. Air transportation between EU and the countries of Southeast Europe will, thanks to the Agreement, grow by 6% on annual basis.
