Austrian companies: Business environment in Serbia between positive and neutral

Austrian perception of the business environment in Serbia has exceeded the expectations for the year 2024, and the forecasts for the following years generally range from positive to neutral, according to the annual survey of Austrian companies on business conditions in Serbia, the Austrian Embassy announced.

The survey was conducted by the trade promotion organization of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, Advantage Austria. As stated, key business indicators developed extremely favorably in 2024, as most Austrian companies managed to increase their total turnover, volume of orders, number of employees and investments.

Looking to the future, expectations are mixed, but overall they can be rated as optimistic, the analysis states.

External factors affecting companies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and ESG goals (environmental protection, social responsibility and corporate governance), have gained in importance and are increasingly present in Austrian companies.

These trends are expected to continue to strengthen in the coming years.

Serbia continues to be an excellent business environment, and the surveyed companies especially appreciate the high level of digitization, as well as the quality and availability of local resources and suppliers, the survey showed. The announcement states that Austria remains a strong advocate and investment partner of Serbia.

It is also pointed out that Austria is currently the third largest foreign investor in Serbia, and the interest of the Austrian side is constantly increasing. With more than 800 Austrian subsidiary companies and representative offices in Serbia, this partnership remains a driver of innovation and growth, the announcement reads.
