Tender for procurement of 8 diesel electric locomotives for Serbia Cargo worth EUR 20.2 million published

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has published the tender for the procurement of a total of 8 diesel locomotives for the needs of the rolling stock of the company Serbia Cargo.

The subject of the procurement are 5 new diesel electric freight locomotives and 3 diesel electric shunting locomotives.

The procured locomotives must not only meet technical requirements, but also conform to strict European norms regarding environmental protection, as announced on the company’s website.

The total value of the procurement of the locomotives, as Serbia Cargo said, amounts to EUR 20.2 million.

The deadline for submission of tenders is March 28, 2025.

This procurement is part of a wider project of “Srbija Kargo” a.d. rolling stock renewal, which is realized from the proceeds of the loan of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The aim of the project is the modernization of the rolling stock of “Srbija Kargo” a.d. and to reduce environmental pollution caused by railway freight transport, which will significantly improve the quality and capacities of railway transport.
