The new way of production of confectionery products without harmful fats was presented yesterday at Bambi's factory in Pozarevac.
As it was stressed on that occasion, Bambi is the only confectioner in the country and the region to have eliminated trans fats from its complete portfolio, thus joining a group of large global companies that have implemented that project.
- The process of elimination of trans fat from all our products took three years. In that period we managed to gradually replace trans fats with vegetable fats that don't contain trans fatty acids. Thanks to a team of hard-working experts, we have managed to keep the quality of our products at the highest level without changing their taste - Dragan Zivanovic, executive production director at Bambi, pointed out.
When asked what that concretely meant for consumers, Zivanovic explained that fats were essential part of nutrition, but that it was important to make a difference between so-called good and bad fats since the former were much healthier.
The biggest challenge in the elimination process was to find adequate vegetable fats supporting the unique, authentic and recognizable structure, taste and scent, that is, to find a replacement without consumers noticing the change when consuming the product.
The company Bambi daily produces 2,000 tonnes of biscuits and other snacks, about 40 tonnes of which are Plazma biscuits. Over the last few years, as he added, 70 new products on average have been launched every year, whereas 25% of all products have been exported.
According to his words, about 1.5 kg of Plazma biscuits per capita are produced every year.
