Germany's Falke will start the trial production of socks at its factory in Leskovac on December 25, says Leskovac Mayor Slobodan Kocic.
- The factory is practically finished, machines are being installed, and everything is ready for the commencement of trial production – Kocic specifies.
Construction of Falke's factory in Leskovac began in November 2010, and it was supposed to be completed until spring 2011. The next deadline was August 2011, but it was extended until late December, that is, the catholic Christmas, and one of reasons for this delay is the expansion of the area spanned by the factory from 12,000 to 16,000 square meters.
Falke received EUR 4,000 from the Serbian Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA) for each newly created job, that is, the company was granted a total of EUR 2.4 million since it is going to hire 600 workers.
A total of 1,250 candidates have so far applied for a job at this company through the National Employment Agency, and about 80 workers have already been hired and are now being trained to work on up-to-date machines.
