Conquering the world with black box - Bitgear Wireless Design Services IT company as Serbian "rising star"

The company Bitgear Wireless Design Services, with its 387% revenue growth between 2008 and 2010, is the first Serbian company to make it to the Deloitte Technology Fast50 Central Europe 2011 list, ranking tenth in Rising Stars category.

Bitgear renders services of high-technology development of electronics, and its specialties are digital signal processing, digital communications, and inertial navigation.

Dejan Dramicanin, director of Bitgear, says for eKapija that the services they provide are profitable enough to enable them to intensively invest in innovations and the development of their own intellectual property.

- We maintain an excellent cooperation with people from Serbia who successfully work in Europe and America, which provided us with an opportunity to realistically consider the needs of these markets and adapt the company's concept accordingly. Over 95% of Bitgear's revenues come from exports. We are working with companies in Germany, England, Ireland, USA, Canada, Greece and France. We also work with renowned companies in the domain of electronics in Serbia. The company currently has 18 employees and associates working on our projects, and the plan is to increase the number of people on our team in the future. Our revenues have grown by 387% since 2008. A part of revenues comes from our participation in innovation projects implemented under FP7. The fact that the European Commission has recognized our innovation potential is something we see as a great acknowledgment - says our interlocutor.

Bitgear Wireless Design Services works with a foreign partner on the commercialization of its innovative system based on black boxes that are built in automobiles.

- Black boxes are miniature devices analyzing the driving dynamics and determining the characteristics of the driver's behavior in real time. Based on periodic reports that these devices send, the system makes it possible to take steps to improve safety by, for example, suggesting a much higher insurance premium for dangerous drivers or a ban on driving on Friday night for younger drivers. A novelty in this system is the fact that it offers a possibility of 3D reconstruction of the vehicle's trajectory in case of an accident. In this way, a completely new level of traffic safety is introduced. In addition, the system stores all data in an "information storage", which is implemented on cloud infrastructure.

Our interlocutor points out that the position towards innovations is what characterizes them, which is why they are currently developing a new platform to be utilized for personal navigation and monitoring.

- This platform is designed to support a broad spectrum of interesting applications based on the analysis of people's mobility and activities, and it will utilize cloud infrastructure to collect and access data.

Dramicanin says that Serbia has good engineers and programmers in spite of the fact that local IT companies operate in much more difficult conditions than those in the west.

- As a country on the edge of the European Union, we offer extremely competitive prices of work, and we are only one hour of flying away from Germany. My opinion is that the IT market in Serbia is already making a progress, but that the decade ahead of us is going to produce large companies.

Speaking about plans for the future, Dramicanin announces "increased sales of the company's services and products on the territory of the European Union."
