Project of construction of large underground aquarium in Usce to be launched – Tender for supervision announced

The Ministry of Finance has announced the first tender which concerns the announced construction of the big aquarium in Usce.

In the prior notice, it is said that the tender for the management of the project, the performance of expert supervision and performance of the job of the Construction Manager (FIDIC-approved engineer) on the construction of the aquarium with side features will be opened on December 25.

The value of the job has been estimated at close to RSD 156 million. More details (in Serbian) about the announcement of the tender can be found HERE.

As announced earlier, the aquarium building will spread on 5,000 m2 and be, according to representatives of the city authorities, a tourism attraction, which will entertain, but also educate the visitors.

The plan is for construction to be done underground, with a glass façade facing the Great War Island.

The aquarium is one of the new features envisaged in the plan for the development of the Friendship Park-Usce, and in addition to it, this space should also feature a new skate-park, the 21st Century Art Museum, as well as the first own building of the Natural History Museum.

According to the team that won the urban-architectural contest for the area of the Friendship Park-Usce, the new Natural History Museum building will be located between the Palace of Serbia and the Great War Island, and the aquarium will be in its extension in the direction toward Zemun.

According to the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, the aquarium in Belgrade will be one of the biggest ones in this part of Europe.
